Training available for all resources

The First Nations Art Series Bundle – OSHC Diary brings together a coordinated set of practical resources designed to support planning, reflection, and team organisation within Outside School Hours Care settings. Centred around the OSHC Diary, this bundle supports service leaders and coordinators to maintain clear oversight of practice across their team, while meeting compliance requirements in Early Childhood Education and Care.

The OSHC Diary Guide supports you in maximising the use of your Diary for compliance records and as a communication tool that strengthens family partnerships and staff collaboration. To further support your use of this bundle, you can also explore the article 50 Ways to Use a Notebook as an Early Childhood Educator, which provides practical ideas for using the included notebook to record staff reflections, team discussions, children’s voices, planning notes, communication prompts, and more that support continuity across the service.

Your team is also supported by our free Butler Method training, which introduces teams to a shared, consistent approach to planning and reflection. This training demonstrates how the OSHC Weekly Programming and Reflection Diary can be used as a central tool for capturing programming decisions, reflective conversations, and evidence of practice across educators, helping teams clearly demonstrate the Cycle of Planning in a collaborative and practical way.

For services looking to strengthen team understanding, learning can be extended through the Cycle of Planning Professional Development Training, which explores planning, reflection, and documentation in greater depth using real-world OSHC examples and guided walkthroughs that support consistent practice across teams.

Together, the resources and training within this bundle provide structured, team-focused support to help OSHC leaders strengthen reflective practice, support educators, and keep documentation organised and audit-ready — without increasing workload — while showcasing meaningful First Nations artwork across everyday planning tools. You can view our full list of training available here or email our team for direction on what training would be most suited to you and your team.

      FAQ

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions

The Record of Staff on Duty section captures two important staff records: staff sign in and sign out and record of responsible person on duty. It is often the case that you will have multiple responsible persons on duty in one day due to shift changes, for example, you may have a person on open shift sign in as responsible person from 6 until 8am, the director as responsible person from 8am until 4pm and then a close staff member from 4pm to 6pm. For before and after school care, you may have a different responsible person rostered for before and after.

This Diary is designed to be an office Diary and a source of communication between the team. Recording important changes in bookings and notes from families and managing staff and visitors all in the one place ensures all staff are aware of key information. The Diary not only provides a record for A&R but acts as a collaborative tool for the service.

As one of the Exceeding Themes, we’ve made sure our Diaries support reflective practice. The OSHC Diary includes weekly reflections and goal setting that is a great way to reflect on the week has been, set goals for the team, and drive continuous improvement. The monthly meeting notes and general notes with the compliance front pages also support reflective practice.

An OSHC Coordinator who uses the OSHC Diary shared, "during our A&R they loved it as they could see clearly who was rostered on including the exact times of the Responsible Person on shift etc...which I think this is great feedback coming from the Department of Education Officers that we all know sometimes can be ruthless."

Common feedback that we hear is that our Diaries keep everything is one place. With the pressure of Assessment and Rating and so much paperwork, it can make staying organised difficult.

We reduce compliance confusion and support you in keeping everything together - particularly handy now with reduced time notices before A&R now in effect.

These resources are great places to get your questions answered. You can also always get in touch if you can’t find your answer below.
