Your guide to simplifying documentation and aligning with EYLF/MTOP and the cycle of planning
If you’ve ever felt buried under the weight of documentation, unsure how to truly show the cycle of planning, or anxious about getting it “right” for Assessment and Rating — you’re not alone.
The Butler Method Tutorial is your guide to how the method behind the Weekly Programming and Reflection Diaries can help simplify compliance WITHOUT over-documenting.
"I found the whole course valuable and I can improve on my whole programming."
This digital course has been thoughtfully created to ease the burden of compliance and documentation in ECEC. It introduces you to The Butler Method—a practical, proven framework designed by educators, for educators—so you can stop second-guessing and start documenting in your Diary with purpose.
"I found the course to be a great introduction into the Butler Diary and how to use it. The most valuable part for me was - Remembering Simplicity. It’s very easy to over think and over document and knowing that we don’t have to over document saves precious time."
"Wow. Just completed What is the Butler method. It is so good that even I forgot about all of the extra info under support tab. It should be a prerequisite when accessing your website. So much info. You didn't go fast, you showed where to find info, you gave references, you are saying what I tell my staff that 1 book is enough to write in and we do not have to do folder after folder of documentation. Your Diaries are fantastic and plenty of info is written in them."

"The purpose of this diary is truly valuable, and how much it saves time when it comes to programming. The use of adding in the box children’s voices, their thoughts and how they find experiences really helps to program based on child’s interest, integrating their thoughts, their ideas and seeing that growth developing every week. This also saves time, rather than just writing this on scraps pf paper, piling it with other documents, which leaves it hard to find and sometimes going missing. My main focus and priority is always to program based on child’s interest more than intentional, because I want to see the children be able to explore and discover from their vision. This diary also helps to plan meaningful experiences/activities based on the child’s interest and curiosity. I also really like how we can also focus on monthly sustainability, and involving with the community. I can’t wait to share with my director and staff members, this will be so exciting."
