Training available for all resources

The First Nations Art Series Bundle – Children’s Centre Diary brings together a thoughtfully aligned set of resources designed to support oversight, reflection, and coordinated practice within larger Early Childhood Education and Care services. Anchored by the Children’s Centre Diary, this bundle supports Approved Providers, Nominated Supervisors, and leadership teams to maintain a clear view of programming, compliance, and professional practice across multiple rooms and educators.

The Children’s Centre Diary Guide supports leaders to confidently use the Diary as a central compliance and communication tool, helping to document key decisions, track responsibilities, and support consistency across the service. To further support daily use of this bundle, educators and leaders can also explore the article 50 Ways to Use a Notebook as an Early Childhood Educator”, which shares practical ideas for using the included notebook to capture leadership reflections, staff discussions, children’s voices, follow-ups, and planning notes that support continuity and accountability.

Teams are further supported through free Butler Method training, which introduces a shared, practical approach to programming and reflection across services. This training demonstrates how Butler Diaries can be used consistently by leadership and educators to document planning decisions, reflective conversations, and evidence of practice, supporting teams to clearly show the Cycle of Planning in a coordinated and manageable way.

For services seeking to deepen shared understanding, learning can be extended through the Cycle of Planning Professional Development Training, which explores planning, reflection, and documentation in greater detail using real-world examples and guided walkthroughs relevant to centre-based leadership and team practice.

Together, the resources and training within this bundle provide structured, leadership-focused support to strengthen reflective practice, support educator consistency, and keep documentation organised and audit-ready — without adding to workload — while featuring meaningful First Nations artwork across everyday professional tools. You can view our full list of training available here or email our team for direction on what training would be most suited to you and your team.

FAQ

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions

The Record of SP on Duty section captures the staff sign in and sign out of the responsible person on duty and nominated supervisor. It is often the case that you will have multiple responsible persons on duty in one day due to shift changes, for example, you may have a person on open shift sign in as responsible person from 6 until 8am, the director as responsible person from 8am until 4pm and then a close staff member from 4pm to 6pm.

This Diary is designed to be an office diary and a source of communication between the team. Recording important details and communication and managing staff and meetings all in the one place ensures all staff are aware of key information. The Diary not only provides a record for A&R but acts as a collaborative tool for the service. "The reading of the diary is a requirement before each educator starts for the day and is located next to their sign in sheets."

Learn more about the Diary as a communication hub and quality improvement tool.

That completely depends on the size and needs of your service! Larger services may prefer the daily version as it provides more room to capture communication, shift changes, responsible persons and children booked in. For services with less communication who want to capture responsible persons on duty for compliance, the weekly version may meet your needs.

"Each diary that we use is laid out in such a way that ALL compliance and record keeping is there - it simply needs to be filled out - each individual diary ticks all the compliance boxes - all the educators have to do is fill them out - it is really simple and easy to understand - This ensures everything is easy to find and on show for spot checks etc. Also no need to go back and fill in missing gaps as everything is there."

Common feedback that we hear is that our Diaries keep everything is one place. With the pressure of Assessment and Rating and so much paperwork, it can make staying organised difficult. We reduce compliance confusion and support you in keeping everything together - particularly handy now with reduced time notices before A&R now in effect.

These resources are great places to get your questions answered. You can also always get in touch if you can’t find your answer below.
