Sustainability in Early Childhood Resource Packs V2
These resource packs are designed to be used with the EARLY CHILDHOOD SUSTAINABLE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM CARDS V2.
This pack has been designed to prompt and inspire you to create a sustainable program that will foster children’s connection with their world.
These cards are broken up into the 3 dimensions of sustainability and link with the 7 Rs to support you in recording these experiences in your Sustainability Calendar. The Calendar is designed to be completed alongside the children and act as a record of sustainable practice for families and assessors to view.
The 3 dimensions are:
Environmental – emphasises the care, protection, and enhancement of the natural world, encouraging practices that preserve the environment for future generations.
Social – focuses on fostering inclusive, peaceful, and respectful communities, both locally and globally, promoting social cohesion and resilience.
Economic – which involves adopting practices that support economic development without compromising environmental and social well-being, ensuring a balanced approach to progress.
There is also a card for an Integrated Project. Use the prompts to select an experience based on children’s interests or use a ‘lucky dip’ method to choose one at random and ask the children if they would like to try it.
Each card points to these resource packs with instructions, tips, and extension ideas.
These cards work best when used with Our Sustainable Year Wall Calendar in which each R has its own space to record your experiences. The Calendar is designed to be completed alongside the children and act as a record of sustainable practice for families and assessors to view.
